Buying these things on eBay will save you a great deal of money in the long run. Here are 7 of the best things to buy on eBay to save money.
Did you know there are many items on eBay that you can purchase to save money?
eBay is actually one of my favorite tools for both buying and selling products. The cost savings can be huge when buying a brand-new product, so it just makes sense to do a post on it.
I've saved thousands of dollars over the years purchasing brand-new products on eBay so I'm here to share my tips and tricks for getting great deals.
Today's post is all about cheap products to buy on eBay to save money.
Things to Look for When Buying a Product on eBay
Before we get into what to buy to save money, let's discuss things to look for when you're purchasing a product on eBay.
When you're shopping for a product on eBay, there are a few things to look at to make sure you're getting the best product for the best price.
1. Filter by Low Cost
When searching for a product, always search for the item by using the filtering items. Select low cost and make sure shipping is included in that price estimate.
This will ensure you are looking at the lowest cost items available in that moment.
2. Look at Reviews
If there are any reviews of the product, make sure to take a look at them to ensure they are positive reviews. If there are some negative reviews, it's best to move to the next product.
Trust me, there will be plenty of products with great reviews so look for those!
3. Look at Seller's Rating
The next thing you'll want to look at is the seller's rating. Aim for sellers that have a rating above 95%.
You'll also want to click on the rating and take a look at the last 6 months of reviews. Make sure there aren't any negative comments that stand out to you.
Negative reviews do happen but take a look at the reason to see if it relates to the seller's trustworthiness, etc.
Now, let's talk about what products to look for on eBay.
7 Best Things to Buy on eBay to Save Money
Alright, now for the fun stuff! I've been buying and selling products on eBay since I was 15. In fact, that's how I first learned about money and how to make more of it!
I've bought so many things on eBay over the years and I can count only 2 times that I had to return a product. In both instances, eBay handled it for me right away.

I would definitely recommend eBay over Poshmark for both selling and buying. You can read my article about eBay vs Poshmark below.
The items on eBay come from a much larger volume of sellers so products are cheaper. They also have much better customer service and will take care of you instantly as a buyer so there's a lot more protection.
Alright, here's what to buy on eBay to save money.
1. Books
Yes, believe it or not, books are SO CHEAP on eBay! I can't believe more people don't do this. They can be dirt cheap!
In fact, of the last 5 books I bought, all of them were over $25 on Amazon, but all less than $5 each on eBay. Amazing, right!?
They all came in nearly perfect condition and didn't even look like they had ever been used! One of them had a “To Ashley” written on the inside of the cover, but I didn't mind because the rest of the book was perfect!
For example, I went to purchase the “4 Hour Work Week” on Amazon a few weeks ago for $24.99, but found it on eBay for $3.78!

2. Coupons
Yes, you read that right!
Did you know you can actually buy coupons on eBay? This is another one of my favorite money-saving hacks and definitely the best cheap thing to buy on eBay!
I have done this for years!
For example, I shop at Lowe's all the time for things for my house. (In fact, I feel I've kept the company in business given how many home projects I've done, but that's another topic. haha)
When I buy an item over $50, I hop into my eBay app and find a Lowe's 10% off coupon or a coupon for $10 of $50, etc. There are usually many to choose from!
I then buy the coupon for usually around $1 and it is immediately sent to my email. Then, when I check out in the store, I show them the coupon and save money!
It's as simple as that!
When buying a coupon, just make sure it is an e-delivered coupon, that it can be used where you plan to purchase (online or in-store) and that you are within the expiration date. That's it! Easy peasy!
3. Brand Name Clothing
Okay, I know I've said this twice, but this is seriously my other favorite way to save money. I buy SO MANY of my name-brand clothes on eBay for 50-75% off the original price BRAND NEW!
Yes, you heard me.
Ever find clothes in your closet with tags on them that don't fit you anymore?
Well, apparently so do other women! They then post those clothes on eBay for a cheap price so they can make a little money (instead of donating it) and you can get a great deal in return!
I have probably 25-30 Lululemon pieces of clothing that were all purchased for about $20 with tags on them. I also have loads of other name brand clothing (Michael Kors, Fabletics, Lilly Pulitzer, Tori Burch, Uncommon James, Kate Spade, etc)
In fact, sometimes the products come from the brand's actual warehouse! I know, right? They may be last season's items or just on closeout, so the company themselves puts it on eBay!
4. Designer Purses
The same concept applies to designer purses and accessories. I've gotten some amazing deals on jewelry and handbags from designers. For the more expensive brands, I've actually helped friends get Louis Vuitton bags and designer jewelry since I'm not too into major designer products.
This is where it's really important to check the reviews and the seller's rating. Most likely, the seller has sold other designer items, so you'll want to make sure those reviews are positive and legit items.
Luckily, eBay does a great job of verifying authentic items and does not allow counterfeit items so if a seller is caught, you better believe eBay will take good care of the buyer.
Just vet out these products extra hard before purchasing.
5. Gift Cards
You can actually purchase gift cards on eBay that are worth MORE than what you pay for them.
Let me explain.
People that need to get rid of gift cards they won't use simply post them on eBay for the cash.
To get people to buy them, they post them at a discount. It's as simple as that and is a great, easy way for you to save money!
6. Cosmetic and Skincare Products
Here is another great money-saving tip I use all the time!
I always look for my cosmetic and skincare products on eBay, especially the expensive ones.
The only thing to keep in mind here is that you want to make sure the listing says they are sealed products. You definitely don't want anything used and eBay doesn't allow sellers to post used items.
For example, the Kate Sommerville product I like is $89 retail. However, on eBay, I can typically get it for $30 sealed and brand new.
Definitely, a great thing to check when looking for cheap things to buy on eBay!
7. Parts to Appliances
eBay is a fantastic place to look for parts for appliances!
When my Dyson vacuum battery stopped working within 13 months (1 month outside of the warranty, of course), the replacement battery was $99!! (ARE YOU KIDDING?)
I then went to eBay to look for the part.
Many sellers had the part for $16. I purchased it and it's been 2 years since then with no issues.
Now, keep in mind, the part I bought is not from Dyson. It's a remanufactured part from another company.
However, it's worked longer than the original Dyson battery worked so I'm a happy camper!
Other things related to appliances that I've gotten that saved my money:
- Refrigerator Filters
- Blender part replacements
- Computer power adapters
- Mouse/keyboard
- Computer cases
- Phone cases
As you can see, there are a ton of great, cheap things to buy on eBay that can you a lot of money! The sky is the limit!
If you find anything not on my list that's a no-brainer, add it to the comments below! I'd love to hear it and add it to my list!
