Why Install a Light with Puck Lights?
There are 3 reasons to install a light with puck lights:
1. To Save Money
Call out an electrician? That can cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars to get the home wired for that. Yikes!
I just wanted decorative reading lights in a guest room.
There was no way I was going to pay hundreds to thousands for an electrician to wire it into the wall for me.
2. To Avoid Damaging the Wall
By installing puck lights instead of rewiring the electricity, I avoided having to rip up my wall and my beautiful shiplap we had just put up!
No thank you!
This is also why this trick is perfect for renters and apartments! You won't damage the wall, but you'll still be able to have a custom look in your home!
3. To Hide the Cord for a Clean Look
I also did not want the cord to show from the sconce lights since I was aiming for a clean look! I just love the look it gives!
Therefore, I decided to use puck lights in the sconces so that I'd still have the decorative lights I wanted, but without the ugly cord hanging down.
How to Install a Light Without the Cord Showing
Items Needed:
- Sconce Light of Choice- These are the ones I used
- Puck Lights- I actually tried several before I found the ones I liked best. Make sure they have a remote! These are the ones I ended up with.
- Scissors (to cut the cord, if needed)
- Glue- I just used gorilla glue
- A drill to mount the light, but it's not always necessary if you want to just use a screwdriver, depending on the wall you are mounting the light on
- Music because this is fun and easy!
1. Clear the Inside of the Light
Make sure there isn't anything blocking the inside of the light so that you can easily apply the puck light.
2. Cut the Cord (if needed)
Keep in mind that you'll never be able to use this light as a normal light if you cut the cord.
3. Put Batteries in the Puck Light and Test it
Put the required batteries in the puck light and test it with the remote to make sure it works perfectly before installing it.
4. Glue the Puck Light On
Use the gorilla glue to do a line of glue around the edges of the puck light. Stick it on to the light itself. It should fit perfectly in the sconces and puck lights I have linked under items needed.
5. Mount the Light Sconce to the Wall
Now, just use your drill or screwdriver to complete the mounting directions on the light sconce and mount it to the wall!
Easy peasy!
Light Sconce Without the Cord Showing
You should now have a beautiful light sconce without the cord showing that cost under $40 to do! Woohoo!
I'd love to see pictures if you used the trick! =) Gotta love frugal Home DIY.

Hello,
I just love the way this wall sconce looks! I was super excited to find that you included all the materials but when I went to look up the actual sconce on Amazon, it actually is a different one. The one you have seems a bit smaller and the mounting plate on yours is oval where as the one on Amazon has a circular mount. Maybe it was just a mistake, or maybe Amazon doesn’t sell them any more but if you could send to me the exact name of the sconce that would be awesome!
Thank you,
Robyn

Hi Robyn! That’s odd as I linked the exact ones I have. It looks like they may have changed the design a bit? I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful, but those were the exact ones I purchased. =) I honestly didn’t even notice that so I’m wondering now if the picture showed circle and when I got them, they were oval. Haha! I never noticed. =)
