Best Book for a Mindset Shift: The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein
“The Universe Has Your Book” is a book that I thought wouldn't be very helpful at all, to be honest.
My friend recommended it and said it changed her life so I decided to give it a try.
You're going to think I'm crazy when I say this, but within 30 pages, my mind had already started thinking differently. I had only gotten started and yet I felt so much more at peace and was putting things into practice from the book. In fact, I noticed this mindset change for a few weeks, just from the first 30 pages!
I later went back and reread those pages and finished the book. When I say that this book can change your life, I actually really mean it.
If you don't believe in the “universe” and you believe in a higher power, replace the word universe with that higher power. For example, if you believe in God, replace the word “universe” with God every time the book mentions the universe. I put this into practice myself and I couldn't stop thinking about the book ever since!
Best Book for Habit Building and Breaking: Atomic Habits by James Clear
I'm pretty confident you've heard of this book before, but if you haven't…you'll now hear it everywhere!!!
People swear by this book and so do I. It changes lives.
Atomic Habits is all about learning how to build good habits and breaking old habits. James gives you actionable steps with strategies that actually work to change your life.
No matter where you're at in your life, this book can help you.
Trust me.
It took me 2 years until I finally purchased it because I didn't think I needed it. Ha! How wrong I was!
This book has helped me so much personally and professionally! I truly believe it can help anyone with a lifestyle change.
You won't regret this one.
Best Book for Building Confidence: I Am Enough by Marissa Peer
“I am Enough” will teach you to stop comparing yourself to others and to love yourself for who you are.
This was another book that a friend had read and told me it changed her life. I had noticed a true difference in her so I decided to try it.
This book taught me to love myself both inside and out.
I find that with life's pressures, social media, viewing friendships, work stresses, I was constantly comparing myself and putting myself down.
This book taught me to see things differently. Those wrinkles forming? Those are beautiful because it means I smile a lot! That extra winter weight? That means I am lucky enough to have people to be with during the holidays to share in great food, that we are blessed to be capable of purchasing.
The book will help you to see things differently and to love yourself for who you are! I highly recommend checking it out!
Best Book for Achieving Goals: Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
Okay, I feel like this book was actually written for me.
I am NOTORIOUS for ALWAYS apologizing! I hate confrontation so much that even if I'm not in the wrong, I apologize!
I also do this in the corporate world. Over the years, I found that this not only hurt my confidence, but it was also hurting my credibility. The more I apologized or showed weakness in the corporate world, the more I wasn't seen as an equal with my male counterparts.
I work in a male-dominated industry by day so I often find myself weaker than some of my dominating male counterparts.
When I saw this book, I jumped on it right away.
It was amazing!
It taught me to stop the fear of not being enough or not being perfect. I am just as good as my male counterparts, if not better, so why was I letting them walk all over me?
After reading this book, I put some of the practices into action. A male peer was rude to me in a conversation one day. To be honest, after getting off the phone, I started crying. (Who's been there?)
Instead of having a pity party though, I decided to confront him.
To my surprise, he apologized instantly and agreed to treat me the way I wanted to be treated. That was 2 years ago…and would you believe that he is one of my closest colleagues today? In fact, we are actually great friends!!!
People respect people that stand up for themselves.
Sometimes you need to SHOW people how you want to be treated. This book will help you do that.
Best for Becoming a Better You: Judgment Detox by Gabrielle Bernstein
This book is so amazing for a total detox of your mind.
It will help you to get rid of those little voices in your head that put yourself down and others down.
In fact, Gabrielle states that after reading this book resentments will disappear and compassion will replace attack mode.
It's so true!
After reading this book and putting her action steps into play, I watched as my mindset changed and my judgments disappeared.
This book is something everyone should read as this world needs more love, kindness, and empowerment.
Honestly, all of Gabrielle's books are fantastic!
